Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Festivus for the rest of us!

We shall now begin the airing of grievances!

  1. To those who commend our CEO making “tough” decisions - those wouldn’t be necessary without same person guiding us into disastrous decisions to begin with.
  2. Our CEO could be compared to Al “Chainsaw” Dunlap. When your biggest idea is cutting heads, does that make you smart or business savvy?
  3. Where the heck is our Board thru all this? My lord can you project more laziness or blind eye? Really, no executive heads roll with all the questionable decisions?
  4. Noticed one group submits cost-saving initiatives that are too aggressive or pushed back on by leadership, do we need that group? Couldn’t you directly tell an org “save 10%” and hold them accountable directly without said group in middle?
  5. RTO su-ks. Many top-performers were 100% remote…BUT have witnessed that folks who took advantage of that privilege were not reprimanded or disciplined. Now same managers blame everyone instead of owning the abuse happened under their watch. (Yep, Board still sleeping)
  6. Loved my job for long time. Felt blessed to be remote. The culture has become terrible for me more recently. Now, many will give 8hrs and nothing more. Pride in our work completely ki-led. (Board/Leadership…you sleeping?
  7. Disgust for recent changes doesn’t mean folks are lazy or take advantage of the system. It means we once had something we could be proud of, not so much now.
  8. Looking at the post “dramatic changes for 2025”. Let’s keep it real, every year we were gonna have big changes/cuts. Normally meant 8-12% in reductions -hc or cost, whichever org could pull off. I get some pegs took bigger hits due to nature of what they did, but unless T gets split in half I’d expect same in 2025.
  9. Hot rumors keep hearing…. CEO splits once stock hits $30. McFresh is considered worse than current CEO. Old T head returns - DeLaVega, Stevens???? Next wave of cuts will be mostly Union. Microsoft buys large portion of us. Not saying I agree, just repeating.
  10. Lastly, this place has changed dramatically, imo, for the worst. Leaving is not simple for many reasons. But frankly, id like to apologize to those whose lives have been impacted by poor leadership decisions. I’ve heard of people being put in heart-breaking situations and you just didn’t deserve that. I’m sorry this place is a shell of itself. I’m sorry our leadership thought it knew more than Wall Street, WB executives, and everyone else that crossed its path that got us here. And with that….to all a good night, but not the Board cause they’ve been sleeping for a decade.
