Thread regarding Ford layoffs

At Ford - It's who you know, not what you know

It's sad to see a company like Ford going down the same path as other bankrupted companies. Hired people because of who they know in the company and not what they are qualified to do. It's the same from management to UAW. This is the reason why the comp moral is so low. Poor products. No innovation. Poor quality. Need I go on and on?

It's totally true and I have witnessed many promotions, and new hires at Ford. I was told that you are not qualified for the job because we need people of dark color, and female. It's DEI bullsh-t that puts all of the companies in bad shape, inefficient, no innovation, poor moral, unproductive, and not profitable. How can any company performs well if you have a bunch of dummies with no experience or qualifications working for the company. Soon these companies including Ford will be in bankruptcy because of it.

It's exceptionally true for people of color, different orientations, and for all women.

If they don't have an inside track, they'll be overlooked for a more 'traditional' candidate.

Unfortunately, it is the same at GM, Magna, Schaeffler, Linamar, Borg Warner, Transform, Means, Stellantis, Keystone, GKN, Valeo, etc. Good old boys network is alive and kicking. It is the same wherever you go in the American Industry.

OP is completely wrong. I'll give you an example, DF. He didn't know anyone in Ford, but he was hired to lead the most important businesses within Ford and to its company transformation. How do you explain that?

it's more than who you know. "who you know" has to like you, haha. those of us who have been around for a while might know a few people up the food chain, but they don't necessarily like us. in fact, they often don't, especially when we can see through their crazy schemes.

This is how everything works. Do you think life is some kind of meritocracy fairy tale? Grow up junior. Until the machines take over and things aren't ran by emotional people anymore this will prevail. Get used to it.

I worked at Tesla and it's not like Ford. The hiring process is fair. There is no buddy system, Tesla will only hire the best qualified person for the job.

That’s how the world works. It’s not just Ford. It’s human nature and viewed as less risky to hire someone we know or someone that is recommended by peers.

Are you gonna do something about it or pi-s and moan on here?
