I was let go back in January, it was handled very poorly. Once the meeting was over they did not want to let me to go back to my desk to get the basics (had my keys and wallet in the drawer, cellphone was charging) - two fine gentleman escorted me to the parking lot, what a pleasant feeling. Finally, I got a shipment of two FedEx boxes with neatly packed stuff that I left behind in my cube, that came in about 10 days after my departure. It was packed by my best buddy over there. Finally, gotta be frank here, my severance was more than I expected, toiled over there for 14 years though. I got 2 weeks severance pay and my vacation time was paid out. I also got one week of pay for every year I'd been with HAL, so that's 16 weeks and I had a week of vacation, so 17 weeks of pay, almost 4 months, still looking for jobs, fingers crossed something will materialize soon. Good luck to all of you who are still there, layoffs sucks but HAL is a great company.

Same here. Signed the paperwork, they retrieved my keys and phone from my cube, then escorted (by just the HR lady) to the parking lot. Coworkers didn't know until I texted them from the parking lot. Coworker packed up all my stuff and they FedExed the boxes to me about a week later.
Many people had similar experience, it's business, just relax and find a new job
That's horrible - I think I might be leaving this week, just my gut feeling.
Good luck
