Thread regarding Range Resources Corp. layoffs

Strange Resources

Laying people off in this fashion will hurt Range's ability to acquire talent in the future. Made emphasis on how good Range was at focusing on long term and riding out storms, then without warning shuts down division. This downturn won't last forever and it will hurt range when things pick up again. Can I call dibs on the playoff thunder tickets?

I have seen the same methodology in other independents regarding RIF's but even more severe. Like called out of your office without prior clues - not allowed back into office to pack personals (even with supervision), and personals cartooned by others in a box with pick-up scheduled later. I think this is a sign of the times and the new SOP for layoffs.

I had been told no lay off in my field we will put you some place 2 days before same thing then get a call4 days latter got to let you go

I've been through this before with other companies. I think they handled it as well as could be considering that they had to make decisions to protect the company should an employee have decided to sabotage them on their way out the door.

I would still work for them, but I wasn't offered a relo. :/

Very underhanded the way they did this. Even if I had been offered relocation to Ft. Worth, I don't think I would take it because of the way it was handled...like we were all criminals or something. Don't want to work for a company that does things like this.

The sad thing is that some people had already been told about their upcoming promotions and now their job has disappeared. I was glad to see the COO come and do it himself, but management has been strategically lying and withholding information about the state of the company and the division while putting on a front of a trust and dedication to their employees. With no attempt to first streamline the division, I smell divestiture of the MCD.
