Minmum wage to increase to nine dollars

Minimum wage paid to go to $9 per hour for all workers in April - this is following recent pay hikes from other large retailers. Saw it on CNN this morning.

Long overdue. I knew many employees working for minimum wage trying to support a family or pay for schooling. As a manager, it sickened me to see all the hardworking people make 5X less than I did just because I was more extroverted and had a degree. BS on trickle down economics. Target had to raise their hourly wages only because Walmart did. Just show the lack of empathy and care TGT had regarding minimum wage workers. Pay attention target - informed shoppers support responsible retailers, like Costco, that pays their retail employees a livable wage. You could continue on with your current business model of viewing workers as expendables, but that path is a slippery slope towards bankruptcy. For the sake of MN's largest employer, I hope target survives and become great again.

Typical of Target to make a change in response to other companies. How about being proactive and innovative and LEADING changes like these? THAT'S what makes the Best Company Ever. Did this with online shopping as well. Always a step behind trying to catch up. I hope with all the cuts it's easier for decisions to be made and we see more innovation and originality from Target.

Sting in that they cut HQ to save $ and than turn around and spend even bigger $.

Why should it sting? I am not aware of anyone at HQ that earns $9 an hour.

I think it is the right move for the company, but has to sting a little for those impacted at HQ last week. Timing of this is ironic.
