I have been working with Morgan Stanley for about 10 years now. I am on the IT side so that's the only group that I had exposure to. I can tell you that things got worse over last ten years, some perks are gone, the pay is having difficult time keeping up with the inflation and promotions are hard to get. You'll notice that Morgan Stanley is not the only company that's struggling when it comes to motivating employees, most of the banks are outsourcing big time and there is less emphasis on the little guy who delivers work and executives are getting more and more in pay and bonuses. Go figure what future brings? We will have layoffs this year, I can almost bet.

Keep your projects in trouble if you want to keep your position safe. That's the MS attitude of people working hard. If projects are smooth you are not needed!
Wow u r genius. There is a layoff anouncement that came out yesterday!
I worked there as a contractor before and was not really impressed with MS's efficiency and effective of doing things. The technology is really nice. But the company really is behind in term of skills and making itself more organized.
15% of our NYP1 IT department got hit last week - mostly people over the age of 45. Experience sacrificed for cheap labor - go figure!
There were already layoffs this year, I know of two waves at least one front office, one back office
