Thread regarding Walgreens Boots Alliance layoffs

List of Walgreens stores closing

Do you have a list that outlines what Walgreens stores will be closed in 2015? If you do not have a list, do yoyu maybe have information about a store or two that might be on the chopping block.

Worked in a DC, (started in 1996), in Wisconsin, things started going Downhill Fast when boot Alliance took over. Paycuts, cutout Sick days, Vaca, insurance, (they got the cheapest they could). Changed work hours/Shifts, it went from 1500 employees to 750 in 3 months 😡. Went from 5-8 hr shifts (w/Mandatory OT) to 4-10 hr days-split days/shifts,, w/ot, which ended up being 6--12 to 16 he days. Got rid of the ,(6-figure ) supervisors and rehired Group supervisors, at Half the pay. Upped the Picking numbers Ridiculously high, making it a Toxic work environment. They also went through NUMEROUS Qualitemp agency's, at the time, you couldn't leave the Building, even to go to your car on break, to smoke. And closed (Outsourced), my dept with the most Senior
people, in 2019.thankfully, i Retired, at that time. They are now down to about 500 employees, with 95% of them qualitemps. They had also closed (across the country) Any DCs (distribution center), that had been Unionized. In the stores it's Not any better, they Cut employees down to , 2- pharmacy, and 1-2 on the floor, so basically, NO customer service), add to that, their prices (300%raised on dr-gs alone). They were set up to Fail. They've got the Walgreen name in Europe, that's all they wanted

I am really surprise that the company last this long and that that are still in business! Management do it care about their employees they care about them self’s and those ones that has a longtime like more than 10 years or more they are the worst cause they think nothing will happen to them so that’s when they fired new employees and HR or no one won’t do investigations on them. And those new employees has no where to turn their heads around to ask for help on not loosing their jobs !!
I am glad that this Comp is going down the hill! They even do not care if they’re costumers at all ! Cause also employees are consider costumers !!

I worked as a merchandiser/SIMS coordinator for two years. (2007-2009). At the time "my" store opened the company opened its 5,000th store (over 106 years. Not a bad growth rate). Problem, under Jeff Rein as CEO (and COO prior), the company opened 2,000 stores between '07-'09. I helped setup four stores in five months. Do the math, and something had to give. I left just before sh-t hit the fan at the beginning of 2009. The SIMS position was eliminated. Districts were restructured. It was (and still is) an absolute mess.

Has anyone gotten a list of stores closing in Virginia because my meds have been delayed for 4 months. The last four months the pharmacy is closed due to no pharmacy staff available power or computer issues. And Jan and Feb almost every two weeks it’s a different crew. Friday the manager could not sell cigs or alc as she or the other 2 were 21! I called 800# and asked was that legal to leave kids in charge of a store. She couldn’t even explain my otc allowance. I was told that people are Floating and each store has Rey different protocols. Wow

Walgreens is not just closing in poor neighborhoods. The have closed and are closing in upscale neighborhoods as well. It's not White washing anything. They are closing all over the place. Upscale neighborhoods as well as low income neighborhoods. Sad to say.

If stores are closing in "poor" neighborhoods, it's for the same reason all other stores move out of "poor' neighborhoods. BECAUSE OF THEFT. I wish you people would tell it like it is vs white washing the truth.

Walgreens are closing any stores where the minority population is higher. One could say its also where the poor are in greater population, meaning, there will be a greater need for medication. The reality is, Walmart wants to say "we are a convenient, d–g store like the 1920s! But the reality is, people are on more and more pharma issued d–gs, and ALL walmart is, is a d–g store. the profitability is not what they want. SO CLEARLY they are abandoning stores where medicaid is the predominant means of paying, and remaining in stores where private insurance, that is willing to reimburse crazy priced d–gs from big pharma. So how's that "let the market resolve itself without government interference" thing working out, Republicans?

I was not surprised to find out the Walgreens I used to work is going to close. I was a shift lead in that store. I had way more responsibilities and was paid way less. I was always told that our store did not make money and we were lucky if we broke even. Walgreens is the worst place to work for.

Walgreens at 703 N. Main St. in Creedmoor, NC is closing November 7th. All files transferred to the other Walgreens in town that used to be a RiteAid. Pharmacists, techs, management, front-end employees are floating or hoping to be placed in another store. Some may choose to leave, but no one has been told that they are being let go.

How about it’s 2019 and my local walgreens is closing in maple heights Ohio. I’m a seizure patient and have chronic migraine w a rare brain condition called caveroma. Thanks for worrying about who’s loosing profits compared to supporting local neighborhoods like mine full of sick people getting off the bus & picking up meds on the walk home. We do not have any other locations including a CVS close to our busy intersection. Nice to know insurance profits win again over sick people. Sorry in the hood we are mistaken medicaid insurance vs high paying jobs w regular co-pay out of pocket monies to keep our walgreens open

It was announced today that 200 stores will be closing, no list has been provided. There is going to be a ton of consolidation in the space, there is way too many stores per square mile, sometimes we have a store in less than 2 mile distance from another store, that makes no sense. CVS expanded rapidly too, that hurts us a lot as the space is too congested and now we have a situation where both players, CVS and us are hurting because of this because there is not enough money to support both companies and support both stores. On top of this there is an ongoing war with insurance companies and they are cutting into our profit margins, this trend will continue to grow and profits will be declining.
