Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Are these set of layoffs just the first round the year for halliburton?

There will be more throughout the year. Just watch the rig count, it is a good proxy for Halliburton business. On top of the rig count drops, HAL is giving discounts, they need to make some deep cuts to stay profitable.

Hopefully the market will rebound by the time the merge takes place but I expect there will be a combined reduction of ~25,000 people when that happens. More if the market is still in the toilet. The knowledge that many of us will be laid off is going to have a real effect on productivity. It doesn't matter how good you are, when your number comes up you're gone.

Ine! Man your tripping. We are all going down. Halliburton total employees number will drop at least between 30,000 to 40,000 employees before the third quarter. Let's just hope the baker deal fails. Baker management will run everything. Total employees between baker and Halliburton will be between 60,000 to 78,000 employees. Wait and see guys. It's just getting started.
