Houma cut 55 people today. Not to mention the 20 that left last week with their early retirement/buy ou packages. Rumor is, they are shutting the plant down. We are down to half.

There is absolutely no light at the end of the tunnel for Weatherford. Good companies do their best to retain knowledgeable hard working employees who over the years know all the ins and outs of their prospective product line. They are the core of the company. Without them quality will certainly drop, as mistakes are made by orange hats with no experience. As is happening now, when jobs have trouble or fail in the field the customer has second thoughts about awarding more work to WFT.
Yes the layoff's are saving huge sums of money, only to be offset by customers who no longer believe Weatherford is capable of meeting their demands.
I want to take this time to thank the employees of Houma, because we were doing some of their work, we were able to hang on to our jobs a little longer however, it wasn't enough a lot of good people have been escorted out, I'm waiting for my last check, hope it comes soon, bills don't get laid off, because of the slump in oil prices they just go up so we, the working people, can pay the losses that companies have. I wish everyone well, we are all in the same boat, nothing making good sense. Dedicated, dependable expierenced employees out the door.
the list was all about if you had rubbed someone the wrong way. Plain and simple
They did let go of some people who had an enormous amount of experience. I was rattled by at least 3 or 4 that were let go. One of them was the only one in their department. No one is safe. Seniority does not play out in these lay offs. I am also concerned over the amount of red hats walked out compared to orange hats. How do they come up with the list???
Some of the people let go today just doesn't make sense when you consider those kept. Example...skilled employee former machinist former employee of the year now lead person let go today. Orange hat that can barely press the right machine buttons kept. Example....25+ yr skilled machinist now in trainer role let go today. Orange hat that cant even check a part kept. I can go on and on. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND DOES THIS IN BUSINESS???? THIS IS JUST PLAIN STUPID!!!!!
Morale is in the dumps. People have become like family working with each other for so long. And from 1 minute to the next they're escorted out like scum. F*** weatherford
Round 1=60, Voluntary/Package about 25, Round 2=55. The knowledge and experience that has departed in the last month or so is staggering. Overall, facility in decline for last 2-3 yrs, now at unimaginable low.
How many Machinist do you'll have left.
