Thread regarding Baker Hughes Inc. layoffs

information lacking

In the GOM they are telling us to keep performing as normal and don't concern ourselves with the business aspect. I for one am just going through the motions of showing up and looking busy. At this stage, what difference is it going to make. In a month or 2 from now, all our procedures and documents will no longer be valid and we will have to adopt halli docs and policies. At least now management has admitted that Halliburton is acquiring baker and not simply merging. We don't know what product lines or facilities they will keep. Yet management keeps the charade going well. It has gotten to the point where everyone is stabbing each other in the back to look good for the boss to not get sent home. I feel at this point management should come out and give it to employees straight. It's not the business thing to do but it's the human thing to do.

Just talked to a captain on a supply vessel and asked him if he noticed any slowdown in offshore work. YES....he has noted the supply vessels docked and not working anymore. His crew has been cut and he is working with two less helpers on his ship. He talks to the guys on the rigs and they tell him about the layoffs among their companies so it has already hit the GOM (Gulf of Mexico) which was slated to be the last one hit. It's here folks.

Nailed it! Same line of crap we've been hearing. Work hard and you'll be rewarded. Never mind the brewing storm of uncertainty. In the meantime keep taking the pointless mandatory online trainings, and focus on those KPIs because HAL is going to give a shit how many orders were on time. I couldn't be less motivated.

You are labeled an asset, but in the end you are a liability. You reduce/eliminate liabilities.

I work for HAL. "Keep producing" is standard protocol everywhere. Some people here are riding the clock. Some are quitting. I suppose they think the best time to find another job is while you still have one. Don't know about BH but morale at HAL is shit. Nothing you can do about it. Being a high producer won't matter when they swing the ax. I hope there isn't any animosity between us when it's all said and done. This whole thing wasn't the brainchild of the workers.

Cut costs at employees expense in order to keep shareholders happy and executive pay and bonuses high!

Exactly! And those employees reporting on how loyal they were to their employers means nothing to the employer if there isn't enough work to warrant keeping an employee. None of these companies are going bankrupt. They know how to cut costs quickly in a downturn.

I can't agree more with you.

Employee are Human Resources, resources is the main part.

You are a business asset and will be treated as such. You will be used, sold, dismissed as the business sees fit, don't kid yourself that they will treat you as human. It's just good business in their eyes.
