Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Town Hall

Who is the TOOL that asked for an update on IT outsourcing, when it would be complete and the increase in throughput. The results speak for themselves.

The whole thing is scripted. I did look back at ED and he did look a bit worried when DG was talking. They did wrap things up fast. They were probably scared the room may ask questions. You could feel the tension in the room.

The town halls are an effective method of communicating leadership vision to employees. It is a chance for Don G to speak without interference from ML so we truly understand his views and direction. Town halls are critical to ensure that Follett keeps its positive momentum moving forward. Town halls were a staple at Sears and quite effective.

Town hall meetings are a waste of time... let's be honest do you think they are really going to give the real scoop on how they are sinking faster than a ship made completely of lead and iron? Do you really think all those "silver linings" and news that we are on track and making money true? If you truly believe that load of cr*p... then you and Follett deserve each other... its just like the blind leading the blind in a desert.

I do so very much like how no one save senior management is invited to these Town Hall meetings it seems. Or maybe just those of us waiting for the hangman's noose going to work thinking everything's OK? Suppose if it was the former it'd be like inviting a town and only having the city council show up to cackle as they continue building their doom fortress in a hollowed out volcano shaped like a skull. If it's the latter, well.. I can't think of any pithy metaphors, but you get the picture.

That was the corp town hall meeting. This was the FHEG town hall meeting. CIO was not present so VP RM gave an update it is moving along as planned, and there are the normal transition issues that occur when moving work offshore....or something like that. RM is most vocal supporter of outsourcing after ML and SS.
