What did you think of Richard Dickson's announcements during the earning call? Lots of potential or empty words?

in other words "our tanks are on empty" and we need someone from the outside to take advantage of.
There will definitely be more layoffs this year. Most likely after all the voluntary retirees have left
I doubt there will be more layoffs for a while. Common sense would dictate that Sinclair would have axed more people before a new leader was named so that the new person in charge wouldn't come in as a bad guy. Being that Sinclair was made permanent I cannot foresee another layoff for at least another year.
Quick recap: Most, if not all, of those laid off were from design. Those whom were largely not effected were marketing and senior management. Now, we are partnering with outside 'creative' companies to help us come up with 'creative and innovative' ideas and products. Are you telling me that there's no one inside Mattel that can come up with these ideas? They are looking for innovation and creative ideas outside when we have ideas and talent right here inside the very building they are trying to evacuate. It used to be called the "Design Center". Well, the idea and concept started fading away as it was renamed the "Team Center". No, this is were DESIGN is supposed to happen. The collaboration with these outside company seems like they are doing what we've all feared...doing away with design and have this place be marketing and distribution. Now, "you can design toys and have it made by Mattel". What happened to all the IP stuff they have been jamming down our throats? We need to protect our IP...yet have the average consumer 'design' for us? Meanwhile, we have people leaving the company on their own. Whether to another company or just to get out, there seems to be a person...talented designers...that are walking out the "Team Center" doors. Oh, but our numbers are up. Rumors are the next round is September. Look for more creative and innovation get escorted out the building like criminals...because being creative and innovative is a crime in this company.
From within.... in the areas responsible for creativity, there is no change where it matters. Those responsible for allowing us to get to this low point are still in charge. Their interests obviously and continual come before Mattels. Their old friends, newer "friends" and all their un-productive or unnecessary practices are still in place. A wonderful signal to all of us that want to but no longer feel compelled to give it our all. It is all so clear who will benefit? R Dickson is just passing on "the right things to say" for a corporation in this state. All talk unless you can get one of us at the creative level to acknowledge that something right is happening but again as I stated....THERE IS NO CHANGE WHERE IT MATTERS. And I am sure that the analysts would agree that that is where it has to happen in order to deliver products that consumers want and will pay "the Mattel premium" for. As reported, Mattel's overhead sets corporate records....in a very bad way. And to boot...the BOD is absolutely OK with this.
Another round of layoffs pending. Will include higher levels this time.
I thought he'll have a plan, a solid plan... It's pretty bad, we'll be bought soon, cannot continue this way.
Corporate jargon, hype and no plan. Seems like executive denial and not the performance of a Fortune 500 company. Mattel lost 58.1 million I for the quarter vs only 11 million last year. Bottom line is terrible.
