Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

layoffs

was informed 4 weeks ago that I have somewhere between 1 and 3 months to find a job or I'm out the door, (and no one is hiring internal at Dell). Rational from my manager is that he thinks he can get more work out of the the person he's replacing me with (15 years less experience in the industry and a substantially lower salary), and now he thinks I'm training my replacement to get him up to speed take over my position. (In a pigs eye) They won't give me any information about a severance package or the actual date that I get walked. Word has it that something major is happening in July since Dell is going to miss its revenue projections for Q2 by at least 8% and the creditors that funded Mickey's little buyout are pissed. Expect large cuts.

I believe they are actually doing me a favor, because this is one of the most toxic environments I've ever worked in, and I've been in the industry for 30 years.

Get off your a$$ and do some work! You like the rest of the layoffs are lazy and do the minimal you have to do to get by! You don't deserve your job! They can get more out of the new person because that person has something to prove, is hungry and doesn't feel entitled!

Anyone who works or has worked for Dell knows this company has a culture of layoffs and outsourcing. 15 years is a tough milestone to hit a Hell, the goal always seems to be churn and burn, business or consumer side, really sad.
