Thread regarding L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. layoffs

The Modern Sweatshop - Its time to fight back.

Working for a company so shrouded in corruption and unethical behavior has taken its toll. I've never been in a place where morale is so low. When I walk in every morning and see the propaganda being spewed from the TV monitors, I want to throw up. Words to live by, being spewed out by management as if they had a morale compass.

L3 is nothing more than a modern sweatshop where the normal work week has been redefined and the standard is now 48 hours. As a salaried employee, everyone understands that when it's crunch time or a deadline needs to be me an extra effort is expected and no one argues that. But at L3 many are forced to work many extra hours as the norm, for years, uncompensated. Not only that, some of these employees are on direct charge and anything over 40 hours is a cash cow for L3. You work 48 hours and are paid for 40. L3 bills the customers for 48.

This looks to me like a good candidate for a class action suit. Anyone have any expertise or knowledge in this area? Personally, if L3 was forced to pay me for back pay it would come to a little over $20,000 and that's for not all that long a period.

In lieu of the way L3 treats its employees does anyone have any objections? Let's take a bite out of their bonuses.

Darling, are you referring to the Madison location? Because if you are, you will never be someplace with a lower morale, unless it's a prison! "TV" station? Miss Manners would like to raise a toast to you (and she will, trust me, as raising toasts very much her thing) and say this: at first her sensibilities were very much offended by all things "Communication Station." In fact, she and her like minded friends referred to it as the "Indoctrination Station." But, then, one day, Miss Manners Mississippi Style was forced to let some of the air out her own tires and admit that many of the quotes were interesting! These were actually insightful, as they are often from great minds and they had to do with personal responsibility, character, honor, grace, etc. These slides are always presented prettily/daintily. On the other hand, there was a lot of, "if you do this, you will hurt yourself or others!" Which, if translated means: Don't do this or you could end up costing the COMPANY a lot of money in either Workers' Compensation or damage to government property, etc. The slides have wild, bold, scary graphics. Oooh! So, really, every day, in every way, they just build us up, buttercup, just to bring us down. Raising that glass......

The Supervisors on the floor are the ones who really get screwed. I dont know about all programs, but they work ungodly amount of hours and most times only get paid for 40. If the manager says no ot then they only get paid for 40 a week. And they call this other time casual hours.

Someone/Everyone needs to speak up about the mis charging that has been common place forever. L-3 is ripping off the government Big Time. They force employees to lie, to cover up the illegal activities. Many of the repairs that occur on the aircraft are not completed correctly but they are covered up. There is more wrong than right at L-3 Waco and time for the cover up to be revealed.
