Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

How is the vibe in the EA & ES offices?

After the latest shakeup of bringing back the MEGA boss into the fold here in NYC, seems like its setting the stage for the next round coming...

See the mass exodus thread. Apparently they're losing more folks every week in nyc.

Really? What's happening in NYC? I haven't spoken with anyone over there in months. We have been so inundated with the crap going on in EA that I thought all was good. I know the MEGA boss (so fitting in so many ways) made a string of god awful licensing choices but what else has been happening? More layoffs? Mass exodus?

Actually Neil was gone when she was promoted. Her elevation was all marks doing, because they were friends and then she paid it forward by bringing the layabout clown from spin master back and now he saunters around the ea campus with his dead vapid California stare being more social with the higher ups than doing a damn thing other than soaking up the credit for our hard work. Sure he might give a team member credit if he ever bothered to learn our names.

The mega boss seems impervious to failure. ES couldn't wait to get rid of her when she went back to FP and Neil promoted her to SVP ( to all you Neil supporters, you have him to thank for this). Having her come back doesn't bode well for Fap, but also reinforces the perpetual Mattel problem - when VP and SVPs fail, there is a safety net for them regardless of performance. Underneath, the directors and below face the carnage of layoffs, belt tightening, etc. Mattel has to start firing VPs and above for poor performance. It's the only way to clear out the crap, but also to show the rest of the company that people running teams are held accountable.

Or maybe the Mega boss will become head of operations. Mattel also likes to transfer failed marketing SVPs into roles they know little about so they can learn on the job (corp comm, anyone?)

HR are nothing but useless drones. The people at the top of HR (especially the nasty POS in EA) are absolutely horrendous.

I have been at Fisher Price a long time and have never seen it this bad. Its tough to get energetic innovation when Mattel has sucked the life out of everyone.

HR has failed and need to be replaced. The place is only a paycheck.

Mattel is financing the mega boss promotion with all of the people earmarked in the next round of layoffs. Look for even bigger layoffs to come, higher levels in the NYC office will be affected...one vp will be replaced with another....

Sadly the mega boss with them mega ass did nothing in NYC the first time other then go after crap licenses, tanked at mega, and instead of showing her ass the door she gets another shot at running the NYC office further into the ground. Great change you're driving there Sinclair. I can't wait for the next round of layoffs. I'm going to ask for a package if I can't find something before the next cuts. This is not the mattel I joined 8 years ago.

There is a massive exodus out the door at ES. It is hard to get any work done because people who know how things run left and took that knowledge with them. It's a crying shame.
