Thread regarding Heald College layoffs

Heald is quarter basis. There are three quarters in one academic year. Loans are only disburse every quarter if the student is enrolled

If the student drop from school, the school needs to follow the department of education process called return of title 4. The student needs to follow the program to graduate on time and to only borrow the cost estimated for that program. A student will owe more if they fail (attendance, not passing or other issues) and need to extend the time to attend school which will add to the cost. The student also will borrow more loans if they keep on dropping from school and renters to borrow additional loans. The student will also owe more if after being advised to return excess loans to the lender to lower thei amount they borrow but decides to keep the money for themselves. Department of education have guidelines on borrowing student loans and schools have to abide by it before loans can be disbursed.

People tend to focus on the bad and blindly blame someone without getting the facts when things go wrong but we need to remember that there are more facts in a story than just conclusion. Do not blame the staff who only works to earn a living and have families to support. Students and staff are the victims but who cares about our group when greed and politics are the reason for the downfall of Heald.

Please do not accuse all the staff of wrongdoing as there are more of us who care for our students to succeed. Do not let the bad apple ruin the rest of the fruits. Good luck to all students and staff who are the victims of the greed and politics.

190 - How many were ruined by closing? How many were ruined by it being open in the first place? A HELL of a lot more, that is certain.

Some staff cared about students and their future. Many of the staff were concerned with numbers and keeping their jobs, which very often consisted of doing unethical things.

How can staff be perpetrator when they only worked in accordance with policies, procedure and for a living. <--- They didn't. No one has the right to judge the staff if you do not worked with the students and you are not in anyway experience what the staff experience <-- I did, and I was.

How can staff be perpetrator when they only worked in accordance with policies, procedure and for a living. No one has the right to judge the staff if you do not worked with the students and you are not in anyway experience what the staff experience - betrayed after they put their all for their job. The company should have thought of their employees. If you are an outsider, observer or in any way not part of this mess, please don't judge as there is always two sides of the story and there are staff who seriously care for the well being of our students and their future.

One of the reasons things turned out so badly for Heald and Corinthian is that they continued to view themselves as victim, rather than perpetrator.

Heald has four quarters per year as every quarter is only 11 weeks.I agree that all the students and teachers are the victims of politics and greed

Imagine how much loans will be forgiven even though the loans were disbursed by meeting the guidelines of department of education which the school did not close because of doing fraud on loans. How much unemployment will California spend? How much Ca care will the state subsidize? How many students lives were ruin by closing? How many staff will be homeless? How much money is going down the drain? Most of all, this is America . You are suppose to be innocent until proven guilty. But you are guilty just because the ones that are affected are the small people and not the people who are financially secure. No one cares how it affects students and staff. People only care that get get want they want and we are the sacrifial lamb. If you are not rich, powerful and in the good side of politics then don't complain because your voice will not be heard or your well being is ignore. Who are we for them to think about? We are just employees and students with families who defend on us, we are single moms, recovering drug addicts, homeless, from abuse families, immigrants, and traditional schools will not take us but who hope going to school will better our lives. Why is the statistics of how many people grad and became successful not mentioned? Why is the statistics of how many people help lower the crimes and out of welfare because they graduate and now successful? the success will not be shown or written as people loves misery.
