Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

Just 2 Cents

Dear President Tim - here is my opinion: You can appoint and hire all the provosts, VPs , etc you desire and will not affect change. The current directors and managers are from a culture where anything goes and have been in place for too long. They do not have managerial experience, but rather serve as monitors to continue their survival. Eliminate directors and hire managers with experience from our pool of really experienced representatives and advisers. Eliminate managers as they are basically supervisors. The directors hide in their offices and not visible. These folks have been in place for years and no new blood. Continue this business model and the results will be indicative of no action. Best Wishes!

What? Are you telling me, that asking for recommendations didn't resurrect UOP's retention and enrollment problems? Huh?

1000% agree. Our managers and directors have made themselves obsolete. They have had four years to make themselves useful but they have instead settled into becoming report-runners and "accountability"experts. We have software to do that, thanks. My enrollment director seriously asks his enrollment managers to send him reports every day that need to be pulled from three different systems, and then a big report on Friday from even more systems. My director does not have any business analysis skills, he's not looking for correlations or trends in these numbers, he just wants something at which to point to demand more of.

Dead on, people in positions for 10+ years don't even know what the floor is like. They complain when they have to take a call more than once a week. Many ask advisors how processes are done because they have no idea. All of these people need to be cycled out. Giving them a new title just stagnates the moral around the workplace because it does not promote change. You have 3 flat tires out of 4. If you want to keep these lazy directors and managers who work 2 days a week for two hours then sit back and watch the ship sink. When you report another quarter of losses, you are going to be the one under scrutiny Timmy for your inaction.
