Ubiquitous - "...existing or being everywhere at the same time; widespread. " Well, we MadMen disdaining folks have certainly had our share of widespread IQUITing of late, have we not? In the last few weeks, I've lost count, but I think it's somewhere around the digits that comprise your basic mani or pedi. We've also had enough rumors, many false, to wrap around the ATT stadium - shout out to Texans. Real or transplanted from othah parts of this little ole' US of A, like Ohio or Idaho or what the Ho. The widespread question of this day and about 180 days prior is: What does a guy or a girl or a transgender have to do to get an answer to a simple question? What is the plan for Madison? Not the long term, once the lease runs out in a few years, plan but the immediate plan? At this point, most people don't care about lease expiration timelines, they are more concerned about what next year's college tuition for a beloved child may look like, whether they should finally buy that new car they need, what kind of wedding will they be able to throw their baby girl, their roof really needs replacing, can they still afford to help an aged parent on a fixed income, etc.! Paraphrasing "The King and I," ETC, ETC, ETC. Someone needs to get off their well compensated a$$ and do a little L-3 Communicating! Before I end this post, I have a question: since when do major companies not mind the fact that their solid, loyal, long term, high achieving performers split? In Madison's case, some are so fed up, they are "going to the house." Some are going to Eaton. Some are going to Tenax. (For the uninitiated, it may rhyme with a feminine hygiene product, but it's got more money than God and more former L-3 brains behind it than I can name.) Hey, JL, your building is half empty. And, of this date, it is replete with people who know the business. Just saying, handsome.

Hah! Like any honest estrogen filled vessel of dee-light, I will whine for free! And, at my rate of pay, if this is whining, then I almost do! LOL So, Tongue in Cheek, Check Back In...some of us would like to hear more from you. SJ
So we are just gonna sit here and get paid to whine!
Okay, I appreciate your expounding on WARN ACT case law, etc. I still think moving us quickly, lock, stock, and barrel difficult. However, I am intrigued by your passion, as well as your seemingly in depth knowledge of some of the ins and outs of CorpSpeakCorpBehavior. I can defer to anyone who may know more than I on anything, even if I appear to be exhaustingly obdurate on certain subjects (like aforementioned fell swoop shut down). If you are trying to assist people to get out of our naive malaise, what do you propose we do? Obviously, atmosphere is unhealthy, unproductive, demoralizing. No one should resort to violence. Verbal or Actual. Ever. At some point, the spleens will be emptied of the petty name calling; the pointless postings (including mine) will stop - so what do you suggest? Is it best for those who can find jobs elsewhere to do so? I am not sure what legal remedy the average Joe/Joanna has, but if you know something, it might be helpful to others. Do you see any way that you could be wrong and this operation could be turned around? I am seriously and respectfully asking. SJ

My post was done tongue in cheek, but this reply is serious. There are many EXCEPTIONS to the WARN Act. The referenced fact sheet only vaguely addresses the issue of when notice is required and does not include the volumes of legal opinions or case law associated with this Act. Please don't rely on this Act to protect you. There is no guarantee that Notice would have to be given to you. L-3's Corporate Legal Department is extremely aware of every possible loophole to the WARN Act. They have successfully litigated many cases where employees claimed improper layoffs based on provisions in the WARN Act. There are several "logical, feasible ways to simply shut down or move this business en masse" and if you don't understand how, maybe you do need an attorney. In response to - "What the hell is happening here?" Help me out! Help us all out! - I am actually trying to help you out, to get you out of this naive, malaise you all seem to be stuck in, but I am beginning to come to the realization that you cannot handle the truth, the truth would be too much for you. Maybe that is why management has not revealed their plans to you. In response to - why not get on the "just answer the question bandwagon." - answering your questions opens the door to further legal liability. Corporate is covering its behind, you should be covering yours too. If you are "Much too tired to file any silly lawsuit" I suggest you renew your energy "take a nap, drink a Red Bull" because you will need it.
If you really are a Manager or you are writing tongue in cheek (which I suspect and I find funny, by the way), then you know that there was never nor is there currently a massive, lay-off plan for MADISON. And, you should put those well punctuated writing skills to a different use. Instead of spreading the idea that they want us to quit to avoid severance, etc., why not get on the "just answer the question bandwagon." That is the only thing that I and other posters really want is for local, Texas or NY leadership to give us an idea of what is going on. Unlike the large layoffs at Crestview and PID and Waco, there would not be enough employees left in the building perform any remaining work. And, believe it or not, even the vaunted great, easy to recruit state of Texas is not proving to be a place so easy to find people who can perform Vertex scope of work. Or, at least what the scope is today. There is no logical, feasible way to simply shut down or move this business en masse. Everyone should do themselves a favor and go to the DOL site and read the specifics of the WARN act. Or Google "Warn Act or Warn Notice." At worst, should there be a layoff of a certain number of people, then there would be that notice. However, this does not preclude walking people out the door one by one on occasion. Like a VP. And, for the record, this is not a whine, I've filed no grievances, I, too, am very, very tired! Much too tired to file any silly lawsuit. What would I sue for? Turning me from a mousy, mild mannered introvert into a dogged, little poster, who asks anyone and everyone, "What the hell is happening here?" Help me out! Help us all out! So, 99982, take a nap, drink a Red Bull and get on the "tell us something bandwagon." We could use some smart backup.
Would you people all JUST QUIT, please, JUST QUIT? Our initial plan was to do a widespread layoff quickly over a period of about 2 weeks, but someone got wise and leaked it to the media. So Corporate put the layoff plan on hold with the hope that the attention would die down and the stock price would not be affected. We are now in the middle of executing Plan 2. Plan 2 is actually a smarter, more cost effective plan. Plan 2 is to get all of you "guys, girls, or transgenders" to JUST QUIT, please, JUST QUIT. Plan 2 requires that we simply sit back and float all kinds of rumors and then remain completely silent, and not address any of your concerns. By doing this, we have put you all in a state of total confusion, frustration and anger. Your QUITTING means less or no media attention to the Company, less money the Company will have to pay out through severance packages, less paperwork for HR and will have less impact on stock price. We don't have to look you people in your face and tell you that you are laid off and pretend to care, so less stress for me. So JUST QUIT, please JUST QUIT. You can "go to the house", Raytheon, Eaton or anywhere else that will take you. We are so tired of all of your whining, complaining, questioning, grievance filing and lawsuit filing. Plan 2 requires us to not answer any of your questions, So JUST QUIT, please, JUST QUIT. Isn't it about time you people had some sympathy for management, we had hoped to be done with the closing of the Madison office by now. We are so busy preparing to transition, buying houses elsewhere, making arrangements to move our families, we don' have time for all this! We are so tired, so very tired, so JUST QUIT, please, JUST QUIT.
