I worked at TRU Corporate for over 10 years in their IT dept. Literally every year around February, the layoff rumors would begin, and sure enough, layoff would happen. Management never met an employee they couldn't outsource. Everything you read here is true: they will work you to death; you will not want to take a vacation for fear of losing your job; you'll be made to feel guilty for taking said vacation: there is little to no tranning; the hardware and software is so antiquated and out of date that it makes supporting critical systems next to impossible; directors are utterly clueless and promote based on popularity, not ability. If you think all this makes for a horrible work environment, you are correct. There are plenty of great places to work. TRU ain't one of them.

This company will be bankrupt very soon. ToysRUs does not have the leadership to turn the company around. The brick and mortar operation is hanging on by a thread. Problem there is they sell junk. Their stores are a mess. They are hedging their bets on the webstore, but don't have a clear roadmap. They wasted tens of millions on planned upgrades to their online order management system in 2016 only to abandon it.
The investors - KKR, Bain and Vornado - expected to take TRU public in 2010, but the company's valuation keeps dropping. They refinanced the debt in 2016, stretching out 5 more years.
TRU is a sinking ship. Word to those who survived this latest round of cuts: RUN, don't walk. You have no future there.
managers and directors treat you as if your a slave, replace you with an HB1. if you expect to have a life don't work here. I have been a Sr member of the IT staff and everything said here is true. you are expected to be on a P1 call no matter what, if on vacation drop everything for a 12 hour call if you don't join in your put onto a PIP plan and terminated. after which they replace you with another HB1.
Don't work for these people, if you expect to be treated like a human with mutual respect its not offered at TRU. as for ethics, there are none and they hide behind their well paid legal team.
Does anyone know how many employees got laid off from Toys"R"Us in May 2015? I know it took 2 days to release them all but can't find the total number. I did see a lot of admins in HR very busily constructing boxes to move the process along quickly. Oh yes, I got laid off too after being there for 6 years.
I agree working for TRU is no longer the place to work. I have worked fo the company 20 years in sales and I'm was cut down to 1 day a week.
You forgot to mention backstabbing
