Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

Everyone should watch "Up in the Air" on Tuesday. Unfortunately though George Clooney won't be showing up to hand you your packets on Wednesday

June 24th. If you have any PTO in the bank, use it on Monday and Tuesday because it will be gone.

When I was laid off in 2014, It was by telephone as I was out to the office on business travel. I was informed that the postions was being eliminated and my last day would be the middle of the following month. It's really going to depend on your workflow, the criticallity of your function and the perceived need for you to "tidy up affairs", prior to your last day.

I'm using my PTO today to start applying for jobs (but who am I kidding, my team doesn't even have enough work to make it through an 8 hour day anyway), I halfheartedly decided to be there next week so I can get the information firsthand instead of over the phone or after the fact. Any insight on how it's going to happen? Calling large teams into the biggest conference rooms and giving the news all at once? Hitting up individuals and walking them out one by one? I witnessed one round of layoffs where people were approached by their manager, asked to having a "quick meeting" and then not even allowed back to their desk to get their keys/purse/lunch/whatever. I know it's going to happen, I just don't want to be treated like a criminal.

What exactly is supposed to happen? Are some people getting laid-off or are all of them because I keep hearing one or the other?
