Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

Engineer

Aramco is saturated with expats. Lately we have been getting rejects from western companies. Too much unneeded fat that needs to be cut. Many older expats are no better. No track record of anything just doing mediocore work. Waiting for the layoff wave sonamy to rid off such waste.

Layoffs won't happen in upstream or downstream people... they'll happen in the other business lines...and they're coming... trust me.

Wow, due to arrive in a couple of months - happen to be from one of those useless Western Company people. Would love to discuss this issue when I arrive? You should talk to the recruiters and management to put a stop to this.

The company is not saturated with expats. At least in Upstream. To post a comment like that, you must be Saudi. The company is over 90% Saudi. Of those, how many come in late, logon to their computers and then disappear for the day or sit and listen to their playlists with headphones all day? So many older Saudis just hang on waiting for a package while doing zero work. Expats do not cost that much. It is the GOSI that will bankrupt Saudi Aramco. I do agree that there are some older expats who contribute very little but that number is dwarfed by the over 50 YO Saudis. Things are relatively easy now. Once the oil stops coming out of the ground by itself Jedd Clampett, people will really have to work for a living, that os why the few expats there are remain. Saudi Aramco management knows this very well. As far as Downstream, that could easily change if the business strategy changes.
