Having "Been There" too , I can say from first hand experience that the stress one experiences with the news of the pending RIFS starts hitting is incrediible. We had two kids in college at the time. Fortunately they both graduated with good degrees before I was RIF'd. One should alway have a tidy current resume, it's your basic tool in marketing yourself.

578- Very well put. Bottom line, like it or not, tomorrow Wednesday 6-24 is the day. At this point, EVERYONE has been warned. If you choose to believe otherwise, you are only fooling yourself. Should be an interesting day of chatter tomorrow once the axes get swung.

Have to agree with "Been There..." , If your head has not been in the sand the past 6 months, your resume should be current / cleaned up and you should be searching for your next Great Gig. It takes about 3 months to land a good gig these days.

Believe me, all this worry about the place shutting down entirely is over the top. That will only happen after the DOE stops paying them the proceeds from student loans within 48 hours--as they did last summer to Corinthian Colleges. So, for that, you will have notice. Do yourself a favor, though.....start looking for another job sooner rather than later. From what I read, most of you really don't like what you are seeing and don't want to be a part of it, so move on. The chances are good that you will be forced to eventually when the Feds runs these guys out of business. By the way, the $11 billion lawsuit they filed against EDMC is still out there--it has NOT been settled. It was expected to go to trial this past spring but was delayed due to the financial difficulties faced by EDMC.

With this kind of uncertainty the best you or anyone can do is have a plan, talk to your family and friends…let them know you’re looking for another job. Get your finances in order…

They may not, as they too may be let go. That happened in September 2011 cuts that took out department directors, their faculty, staff including IT and some administrators’. None of them had a clue.
