I don't know about your "maths" but the correct word is "bandied" not "banded." We need to be grammatically correct when bashing Weatherford.
A broken bankrupt company run by rotten incompetent managers, and sinking faster than the Titanic, with little hope of a rescue. Not even GE would be mad enough to buy WFT with it's present debt mountain. Thank you WFT for all the broken promises and dreams. Bleak future beckons us all.
So reading between the lines, another 10000 job losses before we reach the magical 40000 figure being banded around. So I make that 1 in every 5 of us who are left will lose our job this year. Very depressing news for everybody. Please correct me if my maths is wrong.
There are also the ones that some managers are just trying to build "false" cases against so they can be just let go if they decide to downsize further down the road without the need for notice or a severance package.
I think there was 65,000 employees before layoffs started, not 100% sure. If so based on these #s that Would Leave About 9,622 left To Go To Reach 40,000

A very good question. According to US Labor Law 1971, you are supposed to receive by letter a 4 week working notice period. It appears WFT are not complying with US Labor legislation. Hummmm

I read that as meaning 347 people have been given a 4 week lay off notice, that will take affect at the end of July, when they are removed from the payroll.
