Wanting all of you to get your rear ends back to work. We do not pay you a salary to post rumors on a site that is not even part of the National Oilwell Company. Get a grip, if it happens, it happens, and you will be taken care of a whole lot better than most companies are taking care of their employees.

Get back to work? Are you kidding me? This is NOV, biggest bunch of lazy ass rednecks I've ever seen. Haven't seen much work happening in the 17 years I've been here.
Hey Angus, get a grip. There are people on here concerned for their livelihood and NOV management does a crap job of communicating anything. If as a manager you leave a void in communication you are condoning your people to find alternative methods to find that information to fill that void. So it's no surprise the rumor mill on sites like this is rife with information.
And for the record, the NOV compensation for those let go is barely reasonable and compared to most companies in the oilfield is embarrassingly low. I suggest saving your lecture for a group of people who either don't know better or are more willing to listen. Did you know if you have less than a year with the company you get NOTHING as compensation . . just unused vacation, and that is fair? Well that is not what you'd get from Baker, Schlumberger or other companies NOV claims to compete with. That doesn't count how well and professional Shell, BP, Marathon, etc. took care of those laid off there.

Everyone has the right to freedom of speech in the USA. Everyone knows this site is not affiliated with NOV itself.......that is why people post what they hear. Everyone simply wants an arena where they can share information, garner new facts or dispel rumors. This is a public forum where people come together to feel united with others in a similar work situation. Get back to work? Did you not just comment as well? What is good for the goose is good for the gander too!!!!!
