Indian boys in new, crashed sports cars everywhere! Previous experience was with donkeys and camels. Now they have been put in charge of Product centers to further drive down costs and there are no orders. Turn lights off = saves you $.

Imagine the nice parking lot full of crashed, dented new sports cars with bald tires.

First UN-bridled growth and then to insanity to maintain SLP and PIP.

What a merry giant web spawned from greed.

THey are attacking Walmarts in Houston like it is the end of the world with piles of discount vouchers, the most popular being sandals and rice. There is never underwear, soaps or detergents. Nonetheless they had a $10G per head to pay to secure their jobs.

You must not be from Texas. There it is state law that drivers must have an open container in one hand. At least it prevents texting while driving.

There is nothing wrong using company vehicle to chauffer your family members, even friends. Heck, we do that occasionally over here. But if you drink, and not sure of the limit, best to just park the car somewhere safe and take a taxi back.

Doesn't matter whose grandmother it was. By using company vehicle for personal use, he exposed the company to liability unnecessarily. The shareholders will not tolerate that. Why the delay? Should be terminated already.

who snitched on this employee? Why is he getting fired for such a minor non event?

This sounds like one of our Indian brothers is being stitched up simply because he wanted to help out his grandmother.

We need exemption for this type of humanitarian gesture and not fire him.

For immediate implementation. It is with great regret that all company cars and car allowances for employees are withdrawn.

We will not tolerate this level of risk by employees who cannot be trusted to use the company car privilege safely.

No more cars for employees and only VP level and above will continue with a car allowance.

Back in the old days there was a need to connect the east and the west office of an oil company with a telegraph line.

The Manager of the project advertised for workers to complete the job. Three companies responded. Halliburton, Baker and Schlumberger. Since none of the companies would work with anyone from the other two companies , the manager decided to assign each group to a different part of the line.

The first task was to stand the telegraph poles. The Manager sent each company out to a different location. Before they left, he advised all three groups that the one to bury the most poles today, would receive a bonus.

At the end of the day, the foreman of Halliburton reported back to the Manager. The Manager inquired of him how many poles had been set by his group. He replied 48. The manager was very pleased. He advised the Halliburton hand to stay awhile until he heard how Baker and Schlumberger did.

Next to report was the foreman of Baker. When asked, he reported that they had set 53 poles that day. Again the manager was delighted. He dismissed the Halliburton foreman and asked the Baker leader to remain until the Schlumberger team checked in.

A little while later the Schlumberger forewoman reported to the Manager.

“How many poles did your group set?” He asked.

“Two.” Replied the Schlumberger foreman

“Two!” Exclaimed the Manager. “Halliburton set 48 poles, and Baker set 53. How could Schlumberger the great technology and people company have only set two poles?” He demanded.

“It may be true that Halliburton and Baker buried more poles than us.” Replied the Schlumberger leader . “But you should see how much of the poles they left sticking out of the ground!”

Where exactly is that telegraph pole in Houston? This Indian telegraph pole was an upstanding member of his community nearly cut down in his prime. Don't try polarize the conversation here provocative accusations that cannot be corroborated. Just trying to give my SLB brother the benefit of the doubt.

Did anybody witness whether the employee honked his horn first to notify the telegraph pole he was coming and give the pole time to get out of the way? I know there is no such thing as an accident but I believe the telegraph pole has some responsibility here. It might have been suicidal since the telegraph service was shut down this month and deliberately got in the way of the vehicle. This pole dedicated 163 years of service to its company and it was shut off without so much as a "thank you". This pole is likely all tied up in knots since It has been unemployed for almost a month and its life is going to splinters. It would be nice if someone would allow that pole to become part of a cabana on the beach where it could enjoy a dignified retirement where nobody including telegraph service management would piss on it any more.

ain't it ridiculous that they find an excuse to fire people and keep dividends when paal kibsgaard makes around 20 million a yr with his incentives.

FAAAAUUUCK??!!!??? That could employ 400 workers at 50,000 a yr and then not to mention cutting dividend. I thought people were the number one asset in SLB.

Huh?!? food for thought....

Check his phone. He may have been sexting. This could have been serious. If this had happened three weeks ago and the pole had been damaged, the entire country would have been in a communication blackout.
