I heard rumors that we'll have a tough year in 2016 and that we may have layoffs. Now, you never know what's true and what's just a rumor but I'd be very careful here and I would be ready in a case things go south. I know many people here in IT (I work in IT) that are not happy at work and may want to leave - so let's see what 2016 brings

This is sad
I agree its too heavy at the top.
A billion dollar company that has been so mismanaged. They will step over a dollar to pick up a dime. This company is too TOP Heavy.
Its absolutely true. My husband found out yesterday that he and others (with the same amount of experience and years) will have their positions immediately cut. He is a project planner and has 33 years in and 3 1/2 years to go until he can retire though the guys with far less experience and seniority are not being cut. Its turned our lives upside down.
Conductor in St. Louis. Company is Laying off several guys, 100's are furloughed. I myself am looking at a furlough here very shortly. Also too the person who replied with negative comments about the military in this thread, go get f---ed up your asshole with an aids dick.
They are laying off workers to keep the share holders happy. If i was the workers i would go on strike but most of them listen to corrupt Union officials and don't understand they can go on strike and not wait for Union guys to tell you because there not going to talk about strike when the are getting paid under the table. Most of the workers are not capable of thinking for them selves and need some one to do that for the such as a Union official. Thats why Union pacific like to hire millitary guys and guys straight out of high school because they tend to follow order better than a person with a further education. The company like to jump on people with further education and make them managers.
I was hired by UP in February 2015 and laid off in December. They laid off 11 electricians from just my shop without letting even the union know. The whole shop, from what I hear, has lost a lot of trust for the company. It completely flipped my family's lives over. It sucks.
They have way to many layers of management over a handful of workers for a 24x7 operations. Because of short staffing workers are not allowed to take breaks or lunch which violates State laws.
Rumors are turning to be true
