I know of two that have hired a consultant to explore self-op. I know for a fact one has chosen to bail on Follett after Fall semester.
So was this ever confirmed or is it pop up stores?
Yes, getting Neebo stores onboarded. I've never seen a display so clear as that to match the phrase "Throwing them to the wolves."
They were on the list given to all departments involved in getting them on board.
Pop ups or no, they're closing to achieve the results they need. Problem is, no one outside of the executive team knows what those results are.
There were about 5-10 grease fires Neebo was about to close before the acquisition. Follet kept them open. They aren't going to close stores so soon without having a chance to get rid of inventory, especially at "rah rah" schools. But let's be honest here, unless Follett changes how they manage off-campus stores they are on borrowed time. Follett is accustomed to sit in a great location and have adoptions and customers funneled to them. Just wait until they realize that having a passive buyback, marketing, rental, and price matching plan combined with taking out millions of dollars in online sales actually has a negative effect on the stores. Wait until you get your payroll budgets when they realize monsoon sales aren't part of the plan. Yeesh.
Was it part of the 200+ stores that Follett bought?
Wrong...these are stores or locations that were pop up locations. Does not constitute a full server set up.
