Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Yay. ROM. A great way to piss off the employees you do want to keep.

I just found this page. Be scared, very scared. I was in the room for the ROM process. People that applied for open positions were discounted by ignorant and incompetent managers. As the other post said, there is no real discussion on OC the person has or does not have. The manager of the department had the final say and we all know how that turns out. I left just as that ROM occurred and landed in place for another ROM.

Yes indeed no PDC folks! That is a fact ladies and gentlemen. This truly is musical chairs. 20 chairs, 5 chairs are gone through this ROM and those people are out the door. I wonder if they will still offer severance packages?

Very few AMBU folks got positions and that was when there were positions in Chevron. THERE WILL BE NO PDC THIS FALL!!!!!!! So that means the eliminated positions will be layoffs. Every part of Chevron is cutting at least 1 in 5 at a minimum. I really don't think folks understand there are NO JOBS TO TRANSFER TO.

Wait and see how f***ing dysfunctional this ROM process is. I did make several calls to AMBU to see exactly how the process worked. They had the first ROM which was senior management of the BU. They of course made no changes in the biggest joke in leadership in all of Chevron. Everyone remained in position. Then the leadership picked their allies and friends. There was no true consideration of performance, education, experience, and or salary etc. They put people in positions with out a high school educations and if that was not bad enough, no experience in the position EVER!!!!!! They put an IT manager in Drilling and Completions as a technical advisor. I am not being funny or exaggerating! I would put the names down but it is not the employees fault.

I did not believe this but 5 employees verified it that I knew at AMBU!!!! One of my close friends got out of there and said its worse than anyone can verbalize. I know of 5 EXTREMELY competent employees that got let go in the AMBU ROM. When I asked why, the answer was they were a threat as in they made leadership look bad by using Chevron Way behaviors and questioning EXTREMLY BAD DECISION MAKING. These 5 employees were not only known in Chevron but the industry. We are talking High Performers in the real world not in the Chevron bull shit. I was SHOCKED!!! And the dumbass's that we all know and hate GOT F***ING PROMOTED. When I heard those names I shit myself at some of the selections

So if we are expecting some sense of justice don't even think that will come true. The more you have performed and put your neck out for the business is the more you become a target.

Call up to AMBU and asked, don't take my word for it, and guess what the VP kept saying???? We will, with out a doubt, put the right people in the right position. That is what my leadership is saying???? Oh and guess what, AMBU is much worse than before the ROM.

Canada is now on the block. It will be the same outcome.

So grab your ass with both hands and get ready for the ride.

P.S. I am interviewing and I just got a call for a third and final interview. I can only be so lucky to get the hell out of here.

So, any numbers or percentages of lost jobs vs. those who were placed? What are the chances of a support position in ETC finding another Chevron position?

same thing happened in PGPA two years ago. If your position was cut, you had to scramble and reapply. Of course, it was who you knew that helped you find your next job. Many useless people ended up protected again.

Good question. Seems like this ROM isn't going to be across the board

Hey, any idea if ALL eliminated positions in the AMBU cuts from February found homes in other Chevron departments? I'm just trying to figure out if I even have a chance!

So positions are being targeted. Not people directly. So we'll end up with a lot of the same people that need to be removed from the organization after the reorg. It's such a good plan. I don't even know what the point of the reorg is if this is the route. Still going to end up with same percentage of fat. You could make a movie of how ridiculous we are.

who has final decision about whose's position will be eliminated, based on what? based on your percentage of billable hours? your skill sets? for individual in a small team, does team lead have some influence on people's fate under him/her?

ETC should settle down this awful process quick. Ironically i feel the people who have been called to help recent doomed Big Foot project are so lucky.. they do not need to worry they will be let go...

Basically everyone floats. Positions to be cut are eliminated. Then everyone applies for the remaining positions. It's anything but targeted. Paul made it sound like it wouldn't be everyone but it has to be by design. We'll see.

what does mean "using resource optimization management (ROM) to fill open positions."? Will it ask current employees to apply an open position and get interviewed, and salary and others re-determined based on current market? if that is the case, it would drive everyone crazy and I am sure a lot of political and relationship skills will take the lead to secure a position. For new comers to the company, that is quite miserable...
