Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

What's Targets obsession with prod?

There has been a noticeable "transformation" in our DC over the past year. It seems like the only thing that truly matters to management anymore is productivity, while everything else that use to matter is taking a backseat including safety, teamwork and reliability. TM's are no longer following best practices and taking every shortcut they can just for the sake of productivity. Yes, I realize that prod is the ultimate money maker but at the expense of quality and everything else? Is this really Targets plan? This has caused the entire DC to have a I don't give a f*** attitude just as long as I hit those ridiculously high CE. What's Targets end game with raising the CE every 6 months? We are already literally busting our backs trying to make those numbers and they just keep raising them. There's going to come a point where nobody will be able to hit those numbers. Then what?

And the cost to go without a person for a while and then find someone willing and capable to work at said lower rate, and then train that replacement? Not to mention, what if that replacement doesn't work out? Workload doesn't slow down...

Unhappy employees will leave to be replaced by cheaper labor.

It is causing very unhappy employees.. The moral is the lowest it has ever been. I don't know why they think someone in there 50s can work at the same speed as someone in there 20s We are not all the same people

If it's like how the rest of the company works.... Some clown sits at a desk and just wants better numbers on their spreadsheet, with no comprehension of how those numbers translate to reality.
