Is the layoff news emboldening the shorts or encouraging them to cover? Whatever's happening, a slide towards the true reality of matters is most likely not in the cards until the company speaks. Watching and wandering?

Yes and no. I guess it depends on the degree of speculation.
117208, do you really think investing is NOT a form of gambling? Really? I buy stock in companies hoping the price will go up. If that isn't a gamble, I don't know what is!

By the way. Shorting and investing should never be used in the same sentence. Because shorting is never investing . its gambling
Not shorting...but have protective puts options to offset my rsus and espp shares. And since regardless of whether I get laid off or not I won't be working at Q anymore, those company policies regarding derivatives won't apply to me anymore. Not that I cared about that company policy anyway.
