Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Horizons Support Group (Can Someone Please Tell Us What is Going On?)

We had a large Horizons get together on Saturday to network and talk about what is going on in the company. As we all talked, we discovered that we are all lost. We have ask our bosses, What is going on? They tell us they are in the dark as much as we are. We ask about how many Projects and Reorgs are going on and are told, "I dont know." We feel like we are in Crazy Town where Chevron has some many reorg projects happening that no one knows what is happening. Am I safe? I dont know if I am in scope of any of the projects. One of the horizons guys called someone to help him today and found out they were let go on Wed of last week.

IF ANY SENIOR LEADERS ARE READING THIS BOARD, CAN YOU PLEASE JUST TELL US WHAT IS ALL GOING ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The most disappointing answer I got today from my team leader' supervisor was to just focus on my work and not all of the noise going on around me. That is like asking me to stand on a railroad track and ignore the should of the train horn that is about to run over me.

Once again! PLEASE HELP! Put something out official that tells us what is going on!

Cuts will be made across all experience levels. Chevron is equal opportunity and would never risk a discrimination lawsuit by leaving certain groups off limits.

You younger horizons people pay attention to this downturn. There are many lessons to be had. This is what happens when a company spends too much of its reserve capital, mismanages projects, blows budgets, and then gets the revenue halved. Don't do that, when you become the managers someday.

The positive thing is that lower paid, lower experienced engineers tend to find jobs easier. The older people, such as myself, have fewer jobs to choose from, unless we take huge pay cuts. 25-35 yr age group is in the sweet spot of supply vs demand.

Last in, first out! I got that horizons monkey off my back as fast as possible, about 4 years. My theory, thinking from an "enterprise" perspective... if you've got the H by your name that means there's still investment to be made in your L&D. If you're done with Horizons then your cost forward is lower.

Horizons is not off limits. Only 2015 hires. I'm horizons and my position is open

I can tell you that Horizons is not off limits. I know a few horizons folks with under 2-3 years experience that were let go up in AMBU earlier this year. Unfortunately it's just a numbers game and sometimes you get caught through no fault of your own.

You are only out of scope of the rom if you're a 2015 Horizons. You should know if your current role is in scope or out of scope of the rom. I know it's hard to focus but make sure your work is done for pmp purposes. Also, don't think Horizons can't be touched that's why they have the package at 4 weeks minimum pay out for less experience. The chances are slim because you are a lower psg but apply for jobs in the rom you qualify for only. Chevron is a company that's big on relationships so get to networking! Think positive but prepare this is only the beginning!

What happens when their mentors, the SMEs, the old time operators, and the techies get ROMed ? Who will spoon feed the Horizon folks then ? Oh, I forgot, they will become team leads, and much sooner than they thought

I think everyone will echo this.....Horizons is off limits. Nothing is guaranteed but I think the odds are stacked heavily in your favor.
