I have a friend, he's a "Principal Engineer/Mgr", brags a lot. What kind of work do folks like this do? My friend sounds like he's running the f*ing place and gets paid millions? Is that true?

principal engineers, directors are the most useless engineers in qualcomm. most of them are there just because they are aggressive and can argue. in many cases sr. engineers know more than them. If QC cuts 50% principal and directors, it will be a much better company.
They don't do anything, all they do is checking on people and passing the data from other team members
A principal is on the same level as a director. Directors don't make millions a year and they don't run the place. The VP's don't even run the place.
