Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

COP social media team should be the first to go

Somebody needs to tell the COP social media team to stop posting BS about what a great company we are externally when the environment is so toxic internally. It's as if somewhere in Houston there is a team of millenials locked away in a closet, totally oblivious to oil prices/layoffs, just dreaming up cheesy feel good posts that are totally out of touch with reality.

They spent tons of money last year on the what matters most campaign, which is just really ironic now.

Excluding the intern positions the number of recruiters outnumbers the number of job postings. Why on earth are the recruiters still working at ConocoPhillips. The boredom must be overwhelming for the recruiters. Lay off the recruiters so they can go work elsewhere.

The corporate communications department handles the company's digital media (websites, social networking pages, etc) not a 3rd party. The business rationale is mainly recruiting.

Who said SPIRIT magazine was social media? (although the stories from it are often highlighted on COP's social pages on Faceboon, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc). Also, SPIRIT magazine is just as much of a waste of money as the social media pages at a time like this. The company is seriously laying off engineers and geos.... Yet still paying for that nonsense? What a joke

The social media channels are managed internally by Scott Stone, Director of Digital Media in the Investor Relations & Communications department (NOT by a 3rd party)

The social media efforts, both transparent and not transparent, are managed via 3rd party to eliminate bias based on the individual ConocoPhillips employee. No need to create an opportunity for a ConocoPhillip employee and ethics to prevent the presentation of a political or financial statement.
