Top 5 - Week ending 9/25/15...not necessarily in order of value

Week ending 9 25 2015

Weeding out the whining - here's some interesting things that happened this week....

1 - Target to Hire 1,000 Engineer and Tech Professionals

http://kstp.com/article/stories/s3913888.shtml

Anonymous161189 –

This link takes you to an interesting story about the Target Corp hiring extravaganza for IT. 500 IT jobs in the states – and 500 in India. Also mentions that there will be initiatives to support local tech start ups. If you care – you should research and respond this post. I'd love to hear what you've heard about this.

2 – Hassle Free

I selected the post below from this topic because it was pretty relevant, concise, and productive criticism......

We constantly see directives from the home office to reduce overtime, labor hours and positions. Only to see the home office keep adding directors and VP's (the expensive ones). Why does the home office live by different rules? Based on the results of projects that impact us, they are absolutely terrible.

3 – Book buyers

Yes if you still have criminal tendencies – there are all sorts of snares to either make you money or get you some time at a local “university”….don’t be stupid.

4 – Lets list everyone we think should be escorted out…

There’s a lot of activity here. Most recently a discussion on whether CNS/RL is still playing or whether he’ll be showing SS the door. It's funny and worth a read.

5 – Do people party at Follett

Seriously….not any more fool.

Someone please volunteer for next weeks top 5. Happy weekend all.

Better advice to Follett employees. If you see abuse, document it. They may not be focusing on you today, but if they're allowed to abuse your colleagues, they're allowed to abuse you, too. It's just a matter of time. The only way you survive this intact is to act together. Clearly, the company isn't acting in your best interest. You must assert what you know is right. If asked, speak up. Again, it's a matter of time before you're the long tenured employee who they think is too well paid. Being quiet is not the same as being safe.

Finally, find another job. Follett sucks.

You will see egos around you. And if your manager has an ego, you will see his ego surrounded by other egos and thinking they are so cool. You will see no substance. you will attend meaningless meetings and will use some buzzwords. You will see multi-million dollar initiatives being kicked off and weeks later being tossed into the garbage. You will see egos promoted. You will see hard working, skilled and humble people being kicked to the ground and held steady in their positions while everyone else who speaks cool and acts cool is being promoted. More initiatives tossed into the garbage. Your salary increase will barely meet inflation, and that is, if you have one. There is no authentic care for the individual.

Advice to Follett employees: Sometimes it is better to remain silent and just smile. I wish I had followed this advice.
