I'm a team member from the south region, I have to say that asking very important roles of the store to quit within four days or to reapply is a total social irresponsibility. My team, which rakes in 37 % of store sales is now down three 40 hour positions. Leaving my team leader to pick up their responsibilities and the rest of the team and their families to bare the stress, hour changes, and demoralizing environment that whole foods turned into within 5 hours. The store, and culture are not the same... I miss my "family" and community that no longer exists because of self serving cronies. How do we prevent beautiful cultures like the ones that were once fostered at WFM from degenerating?? :'(
By the way - the mentor program was important. It provided empowered and often intelligent leaders, yet to grow, to empower a community of drop outs, non-college degree holders, and others to see the importance of handling product properly. Learning simple things through customer service like manners. A team mentor truly made a difference in my life, and to expect that program to be cut along with supervisors and buyers, who will be left to empower the poor, lost, or curious lower class community out there.
