Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Just because we create a 365 brand. Our customers don't want that. We as a company should have stayed the way we were with John Mackey.

I'm a team member. I'm loyal to whole foods. I was with M's Gooch's who was bought out by WFM. I m in the same position I have been for 30 years with out being caped out. I have been a ATL. I am a Meat Cutter. Yet I'm in entirely at different job, I love whole foods. No pay raise I'm not even caped out. Sorry but they should get rid of all those cushy jobs that don't make money.

After a career of over 30 years at WFM, I am not surprised by what is happening. Apparently, after failing to squeeze more productivity out of its workers, not being able to adequately control shrink, carrying too much inventory, and expanding too rapidly, it was decided in Austin to chop labor. After just raising wages to $11.00/hr about a year ago, some people are being asked to take a pay cut. People will be put in the position where they will have to leave. We have always worked under a "team concept," but now we are cutting TM's to fit a slimmed down version of what we accomplished in our "golden years." Bad things do happen to good people.

I don't care how long you've worked for the company or what positions you've worked in. The "cushy" jobs you're referring to are the people that bust their asses every day dealing directly with the customers to get shit done. We are the ones who build rapport with the customers who shop again and again and ask for us by name and tell us daily that WE are the reason they come back again and again. You are short-sighted, narrow-minded, and are a contributor to everything that is wrong with this company. I won't even go into the way they have decided to carry this out and how unfair, disrespectful, and selfish it is ESPECIALLY since Whole Foods has prided itself in taking care of their team members and being a different kind of company. No one in regional or upper leadership positions have even thought about taking a pay cut or not opening so many stores to keep the TMs that have been with them for the longest and have remained loyal and faithful. This was an easy out for them and they should be ashamed. Good luck getting through the holidays without the TMs that make this company tick.

Those jobs do make money. Being an ATL you're shortsighted to understand how money is made over time to those who learn in those positions and continue to grow further.
