I totally agree with you. Bottom line is phi could not afford to run a pumping company of that scale. I stated this the day bhi bought bj to management. not they tell you looks like your right. Thats why this happened. I really don't think halliburton walked into bhi office for take over. i think bhi walked into their office and begged. but words were changed and things were arranged for bhi to save face... either way I'm glad its over for me. served my 28 years and know i am really free. already back out working offshore for a small company. different product line of course but its ok.... looks good on resume.

And if PP is the "Crown Jewel" are they holding any training classes in cementing and fracing or are they only holding them for engineers?
In as much as I would like that to be true, having begun my career at Western, continueing on through BJS and now BHI, I can't really see how PP would be of interest to Halliburton. They already have a PP that can handle the business for right now and with capable equipment and personnel, why would they want to add our equipment? It could mean that once the merger/buy-out is completed, they will eliminate BHI PP, companies do that all the time, buy out companies to get rid of the competition. Your VP could be telling you the truth, or he could be hoping that if he says it enough it will be true, or considering how much BHI paid for BJS, do they really want anyone to know that maybe, just maybe extending themselves was not a really good idea?
What are the margins?

I suspect there is sarcasm regarding being safe, but I too was in a meeting with a VP over PP and was told that PP was the "crown jewel" of the takeover. Seemed like a ridiculous comment at the time. I learned long ago not to trust management but these guys have taken their lying to expert level. Morale is in the toilet and backstabbing is at epic levels in Tomball.

LOL I worked land and offshore cementer for Halliburton 40 years. Trust me when I say Halliburton has plenty HT 400 pumps and the eqpt to mix and pump 18.8# gal cement.I have mixed it. Not to say Baker has sub par eqpt. But I do not see Halliburton buying baker for the pumping service
Trust nothing said about being "safe". We were told by direct management that our business function was safe as well. Then we were laid off.
We were told by local management that pressure pumping was the crown jewel in suite of business units and we are the reason Hali cam after BHI. The other units are trash.
I work in wireline, hope we will be spinner off to a safer place.
SAFE?, dont be ridiculous,being divested is the safest way of keeping your job, pressure pumpimg is toast post merger which will never happen anyway so dont worry about it
