Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Someone should dig deeper, layoffs not 1%, much closer to 10%, and anyone voicing a contrary opinion being 'managed out' whenever possible.

the 1.6% was estimated to be the number of people who have to be let go, not the total number affected. they stated it was 4500 jobs displaced, expecting the near 2000 open jobs company wide to be largely filled by TMs displaced, the jobs that were reduced in number that people had to re-apply for (signmaker for example, where stores had up to 3 and now have 1) was to be near 1,000 making 3,000 potential job openings, leaving the other 1500 SOL. there is no way to predict what number of people would take severance as a first option. I know some stores that had 2 signmakers where both took severance, and now there is a posting for their one position. the total number of displaced jobs is around 5% but the minimum being let go is the 1.6%. it may very will exceed that number, but they have to give a base number, and that is where the 1500/1.6% came from.
