Layoffs are the norm in a lot of industries. Walmart also just cut a bunch of corporate jobs, after shutting down 4 stores earlier this year. HP is doing massive layoffs right now as well. It's more like, "layoffs have spread into Oil and Gas" in the past year.
Great! That company is evil incarnate. I'd be happy when they go out of business.
