Yea, I'm hearing they may announce things Monday, but the layoffs are happening today & yesterday.

So if you make it through today you're probably ok.

Layoffs happening today?

It's happening today.

The fact of the matter is if you're worried about your position and whether or not you'll have one tomorrow, it's time to look around. There's better places to work and places where you don't have to work in fear.

It is so quiet in the home office you can hear a pin drop. Not a word from senior leadership about Fall results. Compare that to last year when they were busy tooting their own horn about fixing the business.

HO targeted as well.

I've never seen more of a mess of "facts" from people. This reorganization is due directly to Neebo but will affect the entire company. Obviously, we have a few too many RMs so we can only assume some of those positions will be lost. Not necessarily Neebo RMs either. Follett usually cleans house of poor performers during these reorganizations. Also, everyone is scared about ASMs or other positions being lost. If you want to really be concerned, look at how your store is performing this year. If it's considerably poor performing, you should be concerned. Otherwise, just hold on an enjoy the ride. Also, don't be shocked to see some home office stir up as well and a another VP or 2 added to the mix. Toodles!

Yep. I was venting with a point. For the past 3 years the ASM was used to push people into managing stores or push them out the door. Those were the only acceptable outcomes. If we take 1/2 a step back we see they're using the ASM as a replacement pool for any director while cutting out the higher paid store employee. It's another way they pit employees against each other. If they're looking at restructuring the position, it may not be totally horrible (although given Follett's track record- don't hold your breath on less than horrible).

What does that mean? Going to hit the stores? Again?

Re-org is aimed primarily at Neebo locations.Nope.

So the information we can glean from here is that the re-org is aimed primarily at Neebo locations in that they will be 'folded' in to existing Follett regional structure? That's the piece that sounds logical. As for the ASM, yes, I think that was venting, and I've seen the same thing, though I cannot speak for 9th floor decisions as I'm not privy to anything there (field associate.)

Please clarify on the ASM. Have you heard first hand that the ASM position is being restructured or that you are speculative based on your previous experiences? There a big difference.

Info regarding asm's is coming from what source?

ASM=Already soldout (by) Management. The RM will want to believe the director that their ASM is the issue. They are paid better than others in the stores. If they show no interest in running their own, small store, they're a payroll liability (too much pay). ASM are the first in line to be kicked out the door. Upon being promoted you'll feel accomplished. Your vale is being recognized. It's not. You're the next out unless you are willing to take the next step.

ASMs are vital in certain markets and locations. But normally it seems the HO relies on the 'all ASMs are _, all used books are _,' bottom line, they force things to be simple, that way they can wrap their little heads around slashing positions to justify their salaries.

What about asm's? We pull our weight meet our goals but are always easy targets & get no recognition for our hard work. Store managers & cmm's get all the kudos.

Low hanging Neebo fruit, but also any manager that isn't performing. Taking care of all business in one swoop.

We thinking just Neebo shops taking the hit, or are we going to see store management getting the hatchet?

Hearing same rumor from Follett employee on the ninth floor. Definitely a re-org in the wind. Say Buh-bye

Don't forget the expenses related to the constant trips to India to see firsthand how the outsourcing is working. Just take a look at the results of the applications, you don't need to leave the 9th floor.

Great leadership at work. Geography as destiny. In my area there are best in the world universities a mile from for profit schools. They have exactly nothing in common except geography. However the piercing minds of Follett leadership must think that contiguous means related. Idiots! As for the "fat" to be trimmed (if any), you have to pay for this somehow. Reprinting business cards and stationary, travel to meet new employees, Scouting the local sporting goods stores and quickie marts for excellent leadership talent (hint- the RiteAid is a great place to mine for inspirational leaders). Re-orging middle management doesn't improve productivity, so it doesn't pay for itself. Who else is going to pay for it? Executives!?? Nope, you pay for it. Remember- the beatings will continue until morale improves.

Realignment for removal of Neebo RM's. Have fun!

Post ID: @1B7C+DRtEu7z

I don't know. Only thing I know is that regions are going to be realigned to make them more geographical with their RM's. Every time this happened with Neebo, they were sure to trim some fat and/or let people go. It didn't sound like this is one of those cases but who knows. Hopefully not

Neebo Ned, would this have to do with the CM meeting this week out at HQ, and what the "strategy" is for spring?
