Old timer here, ready to go. Actually jealous of those who got a severance. I guess this would just put a target on my back if denied, but it would be nice.

I would've been laid off instead of my floral specialist. I make the same as her. They should've asked some TMs with 5+years if they wanted to leave.
Saw this several times in my store. A slap in the face of people who were separated and actually cared about their jobs. And a slap in the face to the company - so many people were complaining that wfm didn't take care of them or care about their 'happiness' and then also complained about the severance that was so high it has many who remain wishing they'd been let go.

What would you do when the money ran out?
It won't work. You need to be affected by a change in job status to collect severance. If you quit it will be harder to collect unemployment, though I don't believe Whole Foods will be fighting anyone's unemployment right now.
