Baker Hughes lays off 28 in Shreveport

Baker Hughes has laid off 28 employees at its Shreveport facility at 6970 W. 70th St last Friday. Angie McPherson, human resources director for the Southern U.S. geomarket based in Houston, said the layoffs were related to the declining price of oil, which she said had harmed the market and lessened the need for some workers. Eliminated positions in Shreveport were two field engineers, 11 field operators, four field specialists, six operations managers, two people in operations support, one sales and account manager and two repair and maintenance technicians/mechanics. McPherson said the layoffs were immediate and would be permanent. Workers would be paid for two months and would retain benefits for three. Good luck to these laid off employees and their family.
