Thread regarding Fossil Inc. layoffs

Aug. is over. The old Fossil IT are now gone.Forced out by the new exJCP IT. "What comes around goes around". Fossil stocks keep falling!!!

All the old Fossil IT have left the building for good. Forced out by the new exJCP IT Management.

Lots of good people were let go.

The most experienced. The most senior. The most knowledgeable. The most devoted to Fossil. ( 12+ years at Fossil or more )

Infosys is now moving in to their cubes. Insulting things further. 2 level of offshore support. I wander if they are really saving money in the end.

"What comes around goes around!" Fossil stocks keep falling!!!

I was thinking the same thing! Someone either at the local or government level must be getting kick backs/ bribed etc, because none of this makes sense

Infosys and Cognizant sucks!!!! It seems now that for every full-time job there are 4-6 outsourced resources supporting each one, including onsite and offshore people. Let's do the math folks. Wander if somebody is getting something under the table. You never know until they get busted...

Richard Simms (Director), Joy (Manager) and Allan Cano (Sap Admin) left Fossil last Friday. They were all that was left from old Fossil IT SAP Admin/Basis team. Last Friday was officially their last day.

In our opinion, the exJCP that came in the beginning were just part of the cleaning crew. They just pop up since Ed became CIO.

We know now that they were never there to lead and support the Fossil IT people. Now that everybody is gone, the exJCP get to pick which jobs they want and still let go of who they want.

They do things behind closed doors and the old Fossil IT that are still around is always scared that they will lose their job. People say the environment is very toxic and not a great place to work.

ExJCP R Schaffer took over as VP of IT Retail and exJCP K Copeland took over as Director of IT Retail from Steve Weaver and Steve Wages

After the Fossil Layoff , ExJCP R Schaffer is now VP of ECommerce and exJCP K Copeland as Director of Ecommerce.

It is a circus here. The rest of us are just playing musical chair.

It's a circus here in IT...

Fossil VP of IT Infrastructure was walked out the door.

Fossil VP of IT Retail was walked out the door.

Fossil VP of eCommerce was given a new role?

Fossil VP of IT Wholesale system is all that is left.

Why would let go of this position during this critical period of the year for Retailer? Way to go. Oh wait, I'll bring another JCP to save IT.

Infosys is failing on so many levels as predicted. Replace decades and decades of experience with little experience and you have a recipe for failure. Just about all IT departments are sinking and the business is not very happy as you can imagine. How much pain they can take is yet to be seen.

Before we left, we were told by exJCP management not to help them and let them fail if they can't support the system. Moronic isn't it!

Production support is outsourced to Infosys.

Project support is outsourced to Cognizant. Both led by unknowledgable and incapable resources.

I am one of the former most devoted to Fossil IT employees that was laid off. I have a new job with a better work environment and pay. Glad they gave me my papers to exit because it was not the same as it was 5 years ago when “authentic and genuine” had meaning and people protected the brand. The current Fossil management and board of directors will save money on IT spend for a while until the business gets tired of the lack of quality and progress in IT systems. The board will put pressure to reverse a decision they have made in the future. The bad news is talent will not be easy to acquire when they figure out that they need to get in house talent vs outsource to provide the necessary deliverables. I can name several retailers that did the same as Fossil has done with its IT department. They are hiring now and paying higher scale for the best talent because they went too drastic on the IT outsource. It is a tough lesson for those companies because the drastic outsource kept them years behind where they could be with their own employees.

Remember it is not just ex JCP to blame for the situation. Kosta and the board are behind this and they hired Ed knowing this was part of his portfolio of IT management style.

JC Penney is trying to rebuild itself and be successful again. Rumor has it that they don't want them back and happy to see the exJCP folks leave. JC Penney stock is at 7$. I wander what great contribution and vision did the exJCP management left behind. Not much based on the stock price.

Of course they will save money! But that is only one variable involved so if you just leave the question at that (and I am assuming that will likely be the case for the next few years within the management ranks in place) then this entire endeavor will "Meet or Exceed" all expectations. However, should not a company like Fossil also consider strategy or quality or innovation or customer service? In the long run these things make the STOCK rise (and not some dip in overall IT spend) as the company begins to do many things better than they once did. The new "IT team" will likely take years to do things better than the way Fossil did things just 6 months ago so at least in IT they will have likely taken many steps backwards, but will have done so with a little extra money in their pockets. More likely, they will never do IT as well as they did them before so I can only hope that that all those that have left land on their feet as the grass is often greener.

Unfortunately during the process of being one of the "Wall-Street" Companies, Fossil has completely forgotten where they came from and what has made them where they are today, the people. With the departure of the pretty much whole leadership team in the past 3 years, the new guys that are in has no clue where our real core value is. We are blindly following so called technology watch trend, same disaster happened when we wanted to "elevate" ourselves back to 4 years go and increased the Austin leather price, complete knocked-down. lessons were never learned. It was indeed very sad to see how the IT, or all employees, were let go, and even sadder to see where Fossil is going as a company.

Cannot agree more. Fossil IT is ruined by leadership who constantly made stupid decision and only are interested in own benefit. Best wishes to people leaving for good.

Absolutely right! Dennis was talking about saving fuel for growth in new investments. However with two layers of vendors I highly doubt if there is any saving. It cost more to fix things that they screwed up. Full of lies
