@Been Screwed: If you were laid off after the merger, my understanding is that you should have become fully vested in your 401(k) even though you had less than three years of service. I would double-check with HR and get that money back if it applies to you.

Dresser-Rand is the worst company I ever worked for. They hired me away from a good job, then laid me off after only a couple years. They made me sign a ridiculous one-sided waiver just to get my measly 2-weeks severance pay (so much for professionalism). Then they clawed back my 401K company match money (thanks Vince). I hope they are crushed to dust, it's what the place deserves.
