Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Get a thumb drive...

There are videos and written instructions online about how to download your contacts from Outlook. You can then upload them into gMail, iCloud and other places. Remove all personal documents and photos from your laptop or PC. Start taking personal items home NOW. Make sure you have contact information for anyone you'd want to use as a reference.

Unfortunately the company does not encourage differentiating work life and home life and the end result is a mix of work and home within the work communication tools including phone, email, contacts, calendar and mail. And so employees will often use the email calendar and contacts for both work and home, as an example. To the best of my knowledge the above mentioned instructions to download information via Outlook do not work with the corporate version of Exchange / Outlook (Trust me, I tried!). But I certainly would recommend Google Gmail or Yahoo! Mail for personal contacts and calendar items. Open work email, view the work calendar items and start inserting the personal items into the personal email service now! At the moment you start walking to the conference room the access to company resources is in the process of termination. And as noted limit the information to non work information to avoid legal issues.

thumb drive? I need a 4TB NAS for all of this company proprietary info to fit on. On the bright side, I'll never look at it again after I've exposed myself to civil suit for stealing company records.
