Used to be they wouldn't touch you if pregnant. "Oh I had a miscarriage because of all the stress and lost my health insurance". QC was always SO risk averse to employee lawsuits. Hell I even knew of one faked pregnancy to avoid the layoff list. True Story.

They can still lay you off over phone notification.
