My Kmart's lease was renewed in July. I believe it was only for a year, though. I heard or read somewhere that they are only doing year-to-year renewals & not the 5 & 10 renewals that were previously done. They haven't really been closing stores in the South these last couple rounds of closures. It's only a matter of time before they hit the region. I expect store closure announcements to take place in the next few months. These last few years, they have made these type of announcements right before or after Christmas & the number of stores affected have been 200+.

Our lease is up in October.... not to mention our rent is the highest in the corporation...its getting scarey...
I think they will not touching the South through Q2, I may be wrong but that's what I heard, that we are safe through Q2 2016. Take this with a grain of salt, Sears has been known to surprise and it can happen this time around. Job cuts are never fun, so I hope we all do well and that at least a part of Sears survives.
