Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

ELT plan is to layoff 10% but to mentally torture all 100% workforce (to compensate for losses due to low oil prices)

the remaining 90% will be mentally unstable anyway after this torture plus added work responsibilities

90% of your salary is better than no salary at all. Take what you can get now. Be happy later . When your unemployed neighbor puts his house up for sale your family will be glad it wasn't you..

If you keep your job your SGL may be lowered.

Where did you get 8.8% from?

EOI applicants are already around 8.8% of total employees. Some won't be allowed to have that choice and will have to stay or decide to leave without severance. That high number of employees willing to leave it doesn't sound like COP is a good place to work now. Good news is maybe some slackers are going to be able to keep a job as the good workers go elsewhere.

I didn't volunteer for EOI, I wish I could have but I was afraid I wouldn't get picked and my boss would then hold it over my head. It leaves the employee in a bad situation when the boss knows you don't want to be here anymore. I will probably be gone soon anyway as I am working on a much better job somewhere else.

Also, as part of the ConocoPhillips "tough love" initiative, the ELT also announced that, effective immediately, all employees are to adopt the proper mindset whereby they are so grateful to have a job that they willingly accept mediocre leadership direction and a general lack of effective vision of the ELT.

If any employee does still have doubts that we are headed in the right direction they can just notify their local management that they are unhappy in their role.
