Thread regarding Education Management Corporation layoffs

OTC PINK

Doesn't this designation say it all. "THE COMPANY DOES NOT PROVIDE DISCLOSURE. That's all I ever wanted until I was led down a primrose path to be used and dumped like a Cosby victim and I was a good student. Not a welfare cheat, Pell runner, scumbag or asshole. The only thing I'm guilty of is trusting the wrong people and apparently this is a aystemic problem throughout EDMC. You know they don't serve any practical purpose except to

serve themselves. A lot of good , honest people will be glad to see them just go away.

I am so sorry for the students who were sold a bill of goods to enroll, then find out that the "degrees" they earned are worthless. I wish I could make it up to every honest student that enrolled for all the right reasons. There are, however, many students that are savvy as to how to beat the "system", and enroll and show up for the orientation and first day of class, then rush to the Financial Aid Dept. to DEMAND a stipend for "hardship" and wind up pulling every penny available out of their student loans, dropping out, and it is perfectly legal to do so! They know this long before they enroll and have no intention of EVER getting their degree or getting a job in their field of study. As for EDMC - I wish I had never worked there. I put in 11 years of hard work, trying to help students change their lives, and if I had been smarter, I would have realized sooner what my employer was doing and would have jumped ship. In the end, for me, they found a way to squeeze me out. I made sure that everything I did (my dept too) was completely transparent and ethical, and in the end, none of it mattered. If the unethical, dishonest, narcissistic JR decides he doesn't like you, then you are gone. JR is the cause of many EEOC lawsuits (and other types of law suits against the company) and will continue to be the cause until they either wise up and fire him, or the company folds. My guess is... The company will fold, but not as soon as we would like!

Simply put how can you continue to fund any enterprise that doesn't fulfill it's purported mission. Their graduation rates don't justify their exsistence. But by all means let them continue to be funded. This is why I hate the feds as much as EDMC. If fed intervention is the last best hope the students should just expect to live under abridge indefinitely and have smoke blown up their collective asses till doomsday.

Goldman cashed out long ago. As much as I'd like to see edmc fold - even if the stock hits zero - they are not done.

Their goal has always been profit, not education.

Goldman Sach walk away with billions leaving the sinking shipwreck.
