Thread regarding Walgreens Boots Alliance layoffs

Severance Pay

So will employees that are let go, will they get severance pay if they find a new employment before their termination date? Not sure Walgreens will do backround employment verification before giving severance pay.

If the employees were given an 8/31/20 date back in Feb., wouldn't this be more than 60 day notice?

How do you know that Walgreens has to pay for 2 months? I thought there’s a minimum of 2 weeks, meaning the severance package can be way lower than 2 months.

I am a Walgreens CSA, and have been with this company since July 2016. It was just announced that my location will be closing at the end of this month, and (we) have an option to take a severance package.
However, My store manager told me that there were no details given on the severance package unless you opt in. This all sounds wrong and illegal to me. Is there anyone that knows what you receive in the package, or at least the reason I cannot know?

As long as the people let go are still in Walgreens payroll, they cannot find new employment. Due to the massive layoff, Walgreens is required to pay those let go for the next 2 months from when they where notified. I believe that's the law. Thereafter, those let go will receive the severance package. Not a bad deal if you're part of the massive layoff.
